Having had a formal training in agriculture in the early 1980's, Roger seized the opportunity to become an agronomist in Italy and Switzerland, despite potential language difficulties, he advised a broad range of clients to great effect on some very diverse and difficult situations. Upon marriage to his wife Kim, Roger returned to the UK and teamed up again with Jeremy Salt, joining his fledgling landscape company, Roger's passion for gardens grew and he subsequently trained in Garden Design at Merrist Wood.
Roger places great emphasis on the creative benefit of hand-drawn garden designs. He feels that computers can stifle the creative process and lead to repetition of design. Equally adept, whether it is behind a drawing board or building a new garden, Roger is a hands-on specialist who is always ready to meet the next challenge.
Rogers's portfolio of commercial landscape work is diverse to say the least; projects have ranged from the historically sensitive Battle Abbey to urban regeneration on some of the most deprived estates in London. Roger is an RHS medal winning designer and also acts as a consultant to the respected Kings Fund.
