Chelsea Flower Show 2002
‘RSPB Bird Garden’
: Silver-Gilt Medal Award

The Henley Salt team were called in to provide design and consultancy on an innovative biodiversity themed bird garden at Chelsea. With only a few months to go, the original designers had run into serious problems sourcing the peat free plants that they had already promised the sponsor. Using all our available resources our team managed to grow on and deliver 75% peat free plants in time for the show. Our team also advised on all the construction details, built and delivered a fantastic garden in time for the show.

‘What We Want’ Teenage Garden : Silver-Gilt Medal Award

Perhaps the best example of where we have pushed the boundaries is the ‘WHAT WE WANT’ Teenage Garden, we took five teenagers aged 13-16 and encouraged them to design the garden of their dreams, we acted as mentors but it was their design, they even skipped school to help build it! The result was the largest ever RHS show garden, complete with skateboard half pipe, chill zone and meadow, the garden received heavy national TV news coverage from BBC, ITV and News 24, the garden was awarded a silver-gilt medal and the coveted RHS Most Original and Innovative Show Garden 2002.
